About Dr. Janette M. Collier
I strive to provide a warm, supportive environment for my clients to explore what is troubling them. My belief is that compassion and respect should be key components to the relationships I have with my clients.
I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. I received my PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Windsor in 2000. Following graduation, I worked at William Osler Health Centre (Brampton Memorial Hospital Campus) and Southlake Regional Health Centre in the Adolescent and Adult Mental Health Programs. My passion for clinical work led me to open a private practice shortly after becoming registered as a psychologist. I have been working almost exclusively in full-time private practice for the past several years, while consulting with programs such as the workplace trauma program.
Over the years, I have helped my clients with a variety of issues, including:
I maintain a health-oriented approach, working with clients to maximize their potential. My treatment services are individualized to address each client's difficulties and personality style, keeping in mind the context within which they live their lives.
Utilizing a basic caring, respectful, compassionate approach, I draw from a broad range of therapeutic techniques, including:
I strive to increase clients’ awareness of their difficulties, the underlying reasons behind their behaviour and decisions, and the obstacles that may prevent them from making positive changes in their lives to allow them to cope better.
